Telenor Pakistan has successfully completed the world’s largest one-go migration of its entire prepaid and postpaid provisioned customer base, transitioning 90 million subscribers to a next-generation Charging and Billing System. The large-scale migration marks a significant milestone in the company’s digital transformation journey and reflects the growing focus of telecom operators on modernizing core infrastructure to support evolving digital needs across Pakistan.

The newly deployed Charging and Billing System is cloud-native and hosted on a private cloud, offering enhanced service resilience, geo-redundancy, and high scalability. The platform has been designed to support a rapidly expanding digital ecosystem and enables the development of next-generation digital services with faster time-to-market. With seamless digital integration through more than 100 APIs, the system allows efficient service orchestration while maintaining uninterrupted customer experience. The successful cutover was executed smoothly, ensuring continuity of services for millions of customers during the migration process.

The achievement was made possible through close collaboration between cross-functional teams from Telenor Pakistan, Huawei, original equipment manufacturers, and multiple suppliers across technology and business functions. Teams worked in coordination across planning, execution, and validation phases to ensure a smooth transition without service disruption. The scale and complexity of the migration required extensive alignment across IT systems, network operations, customer management platforms, and business processes, highlighting the depth of coordination involved in the project.

Speaking on the occasion, Awais Vohra, Chief Executive Officer of Telenor Pakistan, said the successful migration of the next-generation CBS represents a pivotal step in strengthening the company’s digital foundation. He stated that the upgrade enables the launch of new digital services, improves responsiveness to customer needs, and provides a scalable and resilient platform that supports long-term growth while paving the way for 5G readiness. He added that the initiative reflects Telenor Pakistan’s commitment to innovation and sustained technological development in the country.

Ethan Sun, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Pakistan, said the long-standing partnership with Telenor Pakistan continues to evolve through the enablement of next-generation digital capabilities. He noted that Huawei is proud to support Telenor Pakistan with a future-ready CBS platform that enhances operational efficiency and establishes a strong foundation for 5G and beyond.

The successful migration reinforces Telenor Pakistan’s position within Pakistan’s telecom sector and demonstrates its commitment to delivering advanced digital services. With a future-ready infrastructure in place, the company is well positioned to support the Digital Pakistan vision by enabling scalable innovation, operational efficiency, and enhanced digital experiences for customers nationwide.
