The Federal Investigation Agency has announced that it has shifted completely to a digital process for issuing attendance notices, moving away from manually signed documents in an effort to stop the circulation of fake or forged paperwork. The update was shared through a public advisory, highlighting that the agency will now rely solely on its electronic system for notices issued under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The guidance also pointed out that citizens should not expect any handwritten or manually endorsed documents moving forward, as the agency aims to standardize its communication format through a single authenticated channel. This move marks a significant change in how notices are distributed and verified, placing a strong emphasis on digitization to ensure that individuals can trust the legitimacy of the documents they receive from official sources.

According to the advisory, every notice generated through this new system will feature a unique QR code that enables instant verification. The QR code serves as an embedded verification element, allowing recipients to confirm the authenticity of the document through digital scanning without requiring physical signatures or stamps. Officials noted that this shift aims to support transparency and reduce the possibility of manipulated documents circulating among the public. The QR code verification offers a direct way for individuals and organizations to validate notices without relying on third-party interpretation or manual confirmation. This helps reduce confusion and strengthens the reliability of communication issued through the agency. By replacing manual processes with an electronic format, FIA intends to limit loopholes that previously made it easier for forged documents to be shared or used.

The agency has requested that citizens treat any notice received in a format other than the official electronic version as suspicious. To support this effort, recipients are advised to immediately report any irregular or unfamiliar documents to [complaints@fia.gov.pk](mailto:complaints@fia.gov.pk) so that the matter can be reviewed. The advisory stresses that the use of any different format should raise concern, as the agency will not distribute notices outside of the standardized digital system. Officials explained that the updated mechanism is designed to protect the public from fraudulent notices that may have been used in the past to mislead individuals or exploit a lack of verification tools. By directing citizens toward a single official reporting channel, FIA aims to encourage prompt action and provide a clear pathway for the public to seek assistance if they encounter questionable documents.

Officials also stated that the digital system has been implemented to enhance authenticity and confidence in official communication. The move is intended to strengthen public trust by making the process more consistent and verifiable through modern tools rather than relying on manual paperwork that can be forged or altered. The advisory further reflects how digital systems can help streamline communication, reduce paperwork, and limit misuse of official notices. With the increasing use of digital channels for official procedures in the country, the updated method supports a broader shift toward electronic documentation and improved transparency between citizens and state institutions. The adoption of a fully digital attendance notice process highlights the agency’s focus on standardized communication and the importance of encouraging verification-based interactions in order to help safeguard individuals from misinformation and forged documents.
