The Sindh Building Control Authority for its negligence was also called out by the Supreme Court. The Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar also attended the meeting that was held at the Sindh High Court, where Justice (retd) Muslim observed that the cost of water tankers had increased. As a tanker that was earlier procured at Rs4,000 now costs Rs12,000.
The commission was also irked by the non compliance of the board when asked to upload the details of water pumps in the city. However, an IT officer of the water board informed the commission that 153 pumping stations were situated in Karachi. It was also observed by the Justice that the website did not contain information about the amount of water being received and released at the pumping stations.
