The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company has introduced Raast-based Quick Response code payment for electricity bills, demand notices, and detection bills, enabling consumers across its distribution network to pay their dues instantly through mobile banking applications without incurring any service or convenience charges.
Spokesman Muhammad Saeed Raza said the initiative has been launched in line with the government’s cashless economy policy and the directives of the Ministry of Energy Power Division to encourage digital financial transactions and provide consumers with a faster and more secure payment option. Consumers can use the Raast payment option available in their bank’s mobile application to scan the Quick Response code printed directly on their electricity bills and complete payment immediately. Payments processed through Raast are reflected in real time within FESCO’s billing system, allowing the company’s officers to verify transactions online without manual reconciliation delays.
The scope of the Quick Response and Raast-based payment facility extends beyond standard monthly electricity bills to include demand notices and detection bills, giving consumers a unified digital payment channel for all financial obligations to the distribution company rather than requiring different payment methods for different bill types. The absence of service charges distinguishes the Raast facility from many third-party bill payment platforms that typically add a transaction fee on top of the bill amount, making it a cost-effective option for consumers who are already using mobile banking.
The launch forms part of a phased implementation of the Raast platform across electricity distribution companies for person-to-government, government-to-person, and government-to-government financial transactions, a direction set by the Ministry of Energy Power Division to embed Raast across the utility payment ecosystem at a national level. Muhammad Saeed Raza said FESCO officers have been directed to actively promote awareness of the new digital payment system among consumers and to encourage adoption of Raast for electricity bill payments as part of the broader drive toward building a cashless economy across Pakistan.
