The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake has received an ESRB rating, suggesting a proper look at the game could be coming soon after its brief teaser reveal during last month’s Nintendo Direct. Nintendo updated the game’s official product page with an ESRB rating of 10 and up, a rating consistent with the original 1998 release, though the full rating summary detailing specific content has not yet been published.

The remake, which had been rumored for some time before its official announcement, is set to launch later this year on Nintendo Switch 2, though the short teaser shown at its reveal offered little indication of how the game will actually play. The appearance of an ESRB rating suggests a fuller showing could arrive soon, possibly during Gamescom next month, an event Nintendo is returning to as an official partner, or at the Tokyo Game Show in September.

The rating also reinforces expectations that the remake will stick to its announced 2026 release window rather than slipping into next year. Given how packed the release calendar already is in September and October, Nintendo is widely expected to stick to its traditional November release slot for its biggest fall title, a timing that would place the Zelda remake in direct competition with Grand Theft Auto VI, which is scheduled to launch on November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Ocarina of Time is widely regarded as one of the most influential and highest rated video games ever made, and a modern remake carries significant expectations from longtime fans of the franchise. Whether Nintendo’s biggest fall release can hold its own against the most anticipated game of the generation remains an open question, but the timing raises the possibility that Nintendo could end up standing alone among major publishers willing to go head to head with Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive during the same launch window, rather than stepping aside to avoid a direct clash.
