The GSMA Digital Nation Pakistan Ministerial Roundtable concluded in Islamabad with a shared Call to Action, reinforcing a collective commitment to sustain Pakistan’s digital momentum through stronger collaboration, sustained investment, and coordinated implementation across government, industry, and development partners. The roundtable brought together senior representatives from Pakistan’s federal and provincial governments, Gilgit-Baltistan, industry, regulators, and development partners, standing out as one of the few forums to unite federal ministries, all four provincial governments, the national telecom regulator, mobile industry leaders, and international development partners around a single agenda for the country’s digital future.
To inform the discussions, GSMA published a new discussion paper titled Digital Pakistan 2030: Building Momentum for Sustainable Investment, Trust, and Inclusion, identifying five strategic priorities intended to build on Pakistan’s existing digital progress. These priorities included ensuring investment certainty, accelerating digital inclusion, constructing trusted digital infrastructure, preparing Pakistan for the AI driven economy, and strengthening national coordination across the different tiers of government and industry involved in the country’s digital transformation.
GSMA Head of Asia Pacific Julian Gorman said Pakistan has established important foundations for digital growth, with clear momentum built over the past year. He said the significance of the roundtable lay in bringing together leaders from across government, industry, and development organizations to discuss the practical actions needed to sustain that progress, adding that delivering Digital Pakistan 2030 would depend on continued collaboration, shared priorities, and coordinated implementation across the digital ecosystem. He described the discussion paper as intended to support these conversations by providing a framework and identifying where collective action could have the greatest impact.
The breadth of participation at the roundtable reflected a growing recognition that fulfilling the Digital Pakistan 2030 vision requires synchronized effort spanning the central government, provinces, private sector, and development agencies, rather than any single institution acting alone. The event’s conclusion with a unified Call to Action signals an attempt to translate this broad based dialogue into sustained follow-through, with participants reaffirming a joint pledge to maintain the country’s digital momentum through deeper collaboration, consistent investment, and coordinated execution across the different stakeholders represented at the gathering.
