Key representatives from P@SHA participated on January 15, 2025 in an important meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Commerce. The meeting, chaired by Senator Anusha Rehman, brought together several senators, secretaries, and members of various associations to discuss vital issues surrounding Pakistan’s trade and investment sectors.
P@SHA was represented by Abdul Wahab Ahmad, a CEC member, Muddassir Naeem Ch., CEO of Peak Solutions and P@SHA member, and Kashif Hussain, Research Lead from the Policy & Government Relations Department. The primary agenda was to receive a detailed briefing from the Trade and Investment Commissioners (TICs), including those focused on the IT sector, to gain valuable market intelligence on global trends and opportunities.
During the session, P@SHA representatives expressed their appreciation for the hard work of the TICs and stressed the importance of sharing IT market intelligence from their respective countries. The association believes this exchange of information will help Pakistan’s IT sector grow and build stronger international relationships that can contribute to the country’s export success.
The Senate committee acknowledged P@SHA’s valuable contributions and its ongoing efforts to position Pakistan as a leading tech destination. This included a focus on boosting IT exports through international collaborations and participation in key global events. The committee praised P@SHA for its active role in shaping the national tech landscape and its continuous input to drive policy development.
The committee also encouraged P@SHA to maintain its involvement in future consultations, particularly as Pakistan works to enhance its eCommerce ecosystem. One of the key areas the committee highlighted was the formulation of the National eCommerce Policy 2.0, which aims to provide a more structured and efficient framework for Pakistan’s digital economy.
This meeting reflects growing recognition of the importance of the IT sector in driving Pakistan’s economic future, and P@SHA’s proactive role in ensuring the industry remains competitive on the global stage. The association’s participation in these discussions marks a significant step toward shaping policies that are supportive of the tech sector’s growth, ensuring Pakistan remains an attractive destination for IT investment and export growth.
By continuing to engage with government bodies and industry stakeholders, P@SHA is helping to pave the way for a more robust and vibrant IT industry in Pakistan, with long-term benefits for the country’s economy and global standing.
