The Higher Education Commission has opened nominations for the HEC Best University Teacher Award 2026, inviting public and private sector higher education institutions across Pakistan to nominate outstanding faculty members redefining teaching and innovation. The award is designed to recognize and reward excellence in teaching, innovation, student learning and academic development, giving institutions a formal channel to highlight standout educators within their ranks.

Under the nomination process, each higher education institution may nominate one faculty member through its university level committee, following the approved Best University Teacher Award framework. Nominations must be submitted to the office of the Director General Academics at HEC’s Sector H-8/1 office in Islamabad, with the nomination proforma, certificate and the full BUTA framework document made available to institutions through a dedicated link shared by HEC.

The required nomination documentation includes a complete nomination dossier, minutes of the university level committee meeting that selected the nominee, and a soft copy of the complete dossier, ensuring each submission reflects a formal, committee level review process rather than an individual application. The last date for nominations has been set as October 7, 2026, with HEC stating clearly that nominations received after this deadline will not be considered.

HEC has encouraged institutions to widely disseminate the opportunity among their faculty, reflecting the commission’s broader effort to recognize and incentivize teaching excellence across Pakistan’s higher education sector. The Best University Teacher Award has previously been awarded to faculty members recognized for research contributions and academic leadership, and this year’s nomination cycle continues HEC’s ongoing effort to formally acknowledge educators driving innovation and improved learning outcomes within the country’s public and private universities.
