The Pakistan IT Industry Association and Ignite National Technology Fund signed a Memorandum of Understanding on August 24 to establish a strategic partnership focused on promoting technological innovation and strengthening Pakistan’s technology sector. The MoU was signed by Ali Hasani, Secretary General of PASHA, and Muhammad Bilal Abbasi, CEO of Ignite National Technology Fund, formalizing collaboration between the country’s leading IT industry association and the government owned technology fund operating under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication.
The signing ceremony was attended by several PASHA Central Executive Committee members, including Salman Dar, Usman Akbar, Chair of the Startups and Entrepreneurship Committee, Dr. Sonia Saleem, Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Kashoon Leeza, Director of Policy and Strategic Initiatives, and Syeda Safa H., Lead of Skills Development, alongside members of the Startup and Entrepreneurship Committee and representatives from Ignite. The breadth of committee representation at the signing reflects the partnership’s intended scope across startups, skills development and broader industry policy areas within PASHA’s structure.
Through this collaboration, PASHA and Ignite will leverage their respective expertise and resources to support technological innovation and create opportunities for greater industry collaboration. Ignite, formerly known as the National ICT R&D Fund, has historically provided grants to startups and innovation projects, operated incubators including National Incubation Centers across multiple cities, and run digital skills training programmes through private sector partners, giving the partnership access to an established network of innovation infrastructure alongside PASHA’s industry membership base.
The MoU adds to a growing list of formal partnerships PASHA has pursued with government bodies and technology institutions in recent months, reflecting the association’s continued push to strengthen institutional ties that can support its member companies and the broader startup ecosystem. With support from Tech Destination Pakistan, the partnership between PASHA and Ignite positions both organizations to jointly pursue initiatives aimed at expanding technological innovation and industry collaboration across Pakistan’s growing technology sector.
