AI Tinkerers Islamabad is set to participate in its first global AI Tinkerers hackathon on September 12, bringing local builders into an international event focused on developing AI agents that operate beyond traditional chatbot interfaces.
The Islamabad build day is being organized in partnership with OpenAI under the theme “Agents, Everywhere: Beyond the Chatbot.” The event will challenge participants to explore how AI agents can move into environments where people work, communicate and interact with the physical world. Participants can develop projects involving agents that operate inside workplace platforms such as Slack, navigate websites and complete tasks, or function through mobile and other devices. The organizers are also encouraging participants to explore ideas that extend beyond established applications of AI agents, giving builders the freedom to experiment with new approaches and create working prototypes during the event.
The hackathon will take place on Saturday, September 12, from 10 AM to 5 PM in Islamabad. Participants can attend individually or form teams, while those arriving without a team will have an opportunity to meet potential collaborators at the venue. The event is designed around hands-on development, with participants given the day to turn an idea into a functional prototype. Food, drinks and builder resources will be provided during the build day, while the venue details will be shared with participants whose applications are accepted. Attendance will be application-only, with limited space available for builders interested in participating.
The strongest projects developed during the hackathon will move forward for global review and consideration for the event prize pool. Organizers have positioned the build day as a practical development event rather than a presentation-focused competition, with participants encouraged to concentrate on working code, experimentation and prototype development. The global format will connect the Islamabad build day with builders participating from other locations, allowing local developers to take part in a broader AI development challenge. The event also reflects the growing interest in AI agents that can interact with digital platforms, devices and real-world environments rather than remaining limited to conversational interfaces.
The announcement was shared by Obaidullah Khawaja, Head of Product at Polly.ai and organizer of AI Tinkerers Islamabad, who invited builders to bring their ideas and develop them during the one day event. The initiative is expected to bring together developers and AI enthusiasts interested in experimenting with agent-based applications and emerging artificial intelligence technologies. With the theme centered on taking AI agents beyond the chatbot, participants will have an opportunity to explore practical applications across workplace tools, web-based tasks, personal devices and other environments. Applications are being accepted for the limited number of available spaces, with the Islamabad event scheduled to take place alongside the first global AI Tinkerers hackathon on September 12.
