Islamabad Capital Territory Administration has launched E Registration Services for citizens of Islamabad, introducing a digital system for property registration and related administrative services. The system has been designed and developed by National Information Technology Board (NITB) to provide citizens with a more transparent, secure and streamlined process for property related documentation. The new service covers Sale Deeds and General Power of Attorney and is intended to reduce delays associated with conventional property registration procedures. By shifting key parts of the process to a digital platform, the initiative aims to make public service delivery more accessible while improving transparency in property administration. The launch represents another step in the digitization of government services within Islamabad Capital Territory, with technology being used to reduce dependence on manual procedures and improve the way citizens interact with government departments.

The E Registration system has already processed a significant number of applications since its launch. According to NITB, the platform has received 1,263 applications, while 449 Fards have been issued through the Patwar process and 344 applications have been registered by Sub-Registrars. These figures indicate that the digital system is already being used for property related services by citizens and relevant government offices. The integration of different stages of the registration process into a digital system can help reduce the need for repeated visits to government offices and provide a clearer process for applicants. The system is also designed to support secure handling of property documentation while allowing relevant authorities to process applications through a more organised digital workflow. With property registration involving multiple administrative stages, the availability of an electronic platform can help connect these processes and provide greater visibility into the progress of applications.

The initiative is also aimed at addressing some of the challenges traditionally associated with property administration, including unnecessary delays and fraudulent practices. By introducing digital processes for Sale Deeds and General Power of Attorney, ICT Administration and NITB are seeking to improve transparency throughout the registration process. Digital records can also provide government departments with a more structured way of managing applications and documentation while reducing reliance on paper based procedures. For citizens, the transition can make property related services more convenient by reducing administrative friction and creating a clearer process for submitting and processing applications. The initiative forms part of wider efforts to introduce e governance services in Islamabad and use technology to improve government interactions with citizens. As more public services move online, digital systems can also provide government departments with better access to organised information and improve coordination between different offices involved in service delivery.

The launch of E Registration Services adds property administration to the growing range of government services being digitized in Pakistan. NITB has played a role in developing technology systems for public sector institutions, while ICT Administration is responsible for delivering services to residents of Islamabad Capital Territory. The early activity recorded by the new property registration system provides an indication of demand for digital government services in areas where citizens previously relied heavily on physical processes. The system will now need to maintain reliable operations, secure digital records and efficient processing as more citizens begin using the service. Continued adoption could further reduce manual administrative work and improve the transparency of property registration procedures across Islamabad. The initiative also demonstrates how e governance platforms can be applied to services involving important legal and property documentation, providing citizens with digital access while supporting government departments in managing applications through a more structured process.
