Pakistan explored potential technology partnerships with Chinese robotics companies during the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing, with discussions covering robotics, artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing. Pakistani technology delegations, researchers and trade representatives attended the World Robot Conference 2026, held from August 19 to 23 at the Beiren Etrong International Exhibition and Convention Center in Beijing E-Town. During the event, Pakistani representatives engaged with Chinese companies to discuss technology cooperation, industrial modernization and digital transformation. The conference brought together hundreds of companies and displayed a wide range of robotics technologies, providing Pakistani participants with an opportunity to examine developments in the sector and explore potential areas for cooperation with Chinese technology firms. The discussions could also support objectives associated with the second phase of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, which places greater attention on high technology industries, industrial development and digital technologies.
The 2026 World Robot Conference featured 373 exhibitors and showcased around 3,000 robotics products, including 311 products making their debut. Technologies displayed at the event covered humanoid robots, industrial robots, artificial intelligence systems, robotic components and equipment for manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and emergency response. Humanoid robotics and embodied artificial intelligence were among the key areas highlighted, with companies demonstrating systems designed to interact with and operate within physical environments. The conference also included the World Robot Expo and World Robot Contest, alongside more than 60 activities related to robotics. International organizations supported the event, while international visitors represented around 30 percent of participants at the main forum.
For Pakistan, cooperation with Chinese robotics companies could provide opportunities to introduce automation and smart manufacturing technologies across domestic industries. Potential areas of cooperation include industrial robots, automated production lines, artificial intelligence powered manufacturing systems and other digital technologies. These areas are relevant to the industrial development objectives associated with CPEC Phase II, which includes greater attention to technology transfer, industrial upgrading and cooperation in emerging industries. Pakistani representatives used the conference to establish connections with Chinese companies and examine potential technology partnerships as China continues to expand its robotics and intelligent manufacturing ecosystem. Beijing E-Town, where the conference was held, has developed into a major hub for robotics and intelligent manufacturing, bringing together robotics manufacturers, component suppliers, artificial intelligence developers and industrial users.
The discussions at the conference could provide another avenue for Pakistan and China to expand technology cooperation beyond traditional infrastructure projects.
