The Punjab Home Department has extended the deadline for arms dealers to upload their required information onto the province’s online digital inventory registration system by ten days. The new deadline for registering existing stock along with complete purchase and sale records has now been set for September 6, 2026.
Under the system, all arms dealers are required to register their complete stocks and sale-purchase transaction records through the department’s online portal. According to a department spokesperson, this will make complete records of all firearms and ammunition held by each dealer available on the Home Department’s online portal, along with detailed transaction histories for each item. Out of a total of 413 registered arms dealers across the province, 230 have already entered their details into the digital inventory system, with deputy commissioners in respective districts assisting dealers with the registration process.
The decision to extend the deadline was taken during a training workshop organized by the Home Department in Lahore, aimed at guiding arms dealers through the digital inventory registration process on the Punjab Arms Licence Portal. More than 350 dealers, including those participating remotely, took part in the session from district commissioner offices to familiarize themselves with the online system before the registration deadline.
According to the spokesperson, the shift to online registration of arms stocks and transactions is intended to help curb illegal arms sales and reduce related criminal activity across the province. Dealers who fail to upload their inventories by the new deadline face legal action, including license suspension, business sealing and fines as prescribed by law. Officials from the Home Department, including Additional Secretary Judicial Abdul Rauf and Deputy Secretary Judicial Muhammad Murtaza, along with representatives from NADRA, provided technical training to dealers on using the portal and completing their digital inventory registrations during the workshop.
