National CERT – Pakistan and National Information Technology Board (NITB), operating under directives from Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan, held the second training session on cyber security and emerging technologies at NITB today. The session gathered professionals, experts, and participants from across the IT sector to focus on contemporary challenges in cyber security, advancements in artificial intelligence, data privacy considerations, and the evolving use of e-Office for governance. The training provided both theoretical insights and practical guidance, ensuring participants could better navigate the complexities of Pakistan’s digital ecosystem.

Key speakers included Ms. Zaheema Iqbal, Assistant Director for Advisories & Communications at nCERT, and Ms. Masooma Ali, Cyber Security Expert and Computer Scientist at nCERT. Their presentations highlighted global digital practices, disruptive technologies, and current cyber threat trends. They addressed the importance of robust cyber defense mechanisms and demonstrated how emerging technologies, particularly AI, can enhance decision-making and operational efficiency within government institutions. By integrating lessons on digital trust and citizen data protection, the session underscored the relevance of cyber security in public service and governance.

Participants explored strategies to strengthen national cyber defenses while leveraging AI to support smarter governance initiatives. Discussions emphasized maintaining data privacy and fostering citizen trust in digital systems. The role of e-Office in driving digital transformation was also explored, illustrating how technology can streamline administrative processes and improve service delivery. Attendees engaged in interactive sessions, asking questions on emerging threat vectors and best practices for mitigating risks in organizational networks. This engagement provided a platform for knowledge exchange and reinforced the significance of continuous professional development in the digital age.

The training session marked another step in NITB’s mission to create a secure, efficient, and digitally empowered governance framework. Experts provided practical recommendations on implementing policies and technological safeguards to protect Pakistan’s IT infrastructure from evolving cyber threats. The session concluded with a group photograph of the speakers, participants, and guests, symbolizing a shared commitment to advancing national cyber security capabilities and fostering a culture of digital responsibility. Through these initiatives, NITB and nCERT continue to equip Pakistan’s IT workforce with the tools and insights required to maintain secure, resilient, and citizen-focused digital services.

By hosting sessions such as this, NITB ensures that professionals remain up to date with the latest technologies and cyber security trends. This training not only strengthens individual competencies but also contributes to a wider strategy for securing Pakistan’s digital governance environment. As cyber threats evolve, programs like these are instrumental in building a workforce capable of responding effectively to challenges while leveraging emerging technologies for improved public service outcomes.
