Saudi Arabia is placing artificial intelligence literacy at the center of its national development agenda, recognizing digital skills and AI education as essential pillars for achieving the Kingdom’s long term economic diversification goals under Vision 2030. The initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to developing a workforce equipped to thrive in an AI driven economy by integrating AI knowledge across education, workforce development, and public awareness programs.

As the Kingdom continues investing heavily in AI infrastructure, cloud computing, and digital innovation, strengthening AI literacy is viewed as critical to ensuring citizens and businesses can fully participate in the country’s broader digital transformation. The strategy reflects a growing recognition that national AI competitiveness depends not only on technology investment but also on widespread digital capability across society, a view increasingly shared by countries leading the global AI economy. AI literacy, in this context, extends beyond technical expertise to include understanding how artificial intelligence works, recognizing its opportunities and limitations, and applying it responsibly across different sectors.

Educational institutions across the Kingdom are increasingly incorporating AI concepts into their curricula while promoting critical thinking, ethics, and responsible technology use, complementing broader investments in research, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation. Equipping students, professionals, and public sector employees with AI competencies is intended to enable faster adoption of emerging technologies while improving productivity and innovation across industries adopting automation and data analytics. Building this kind of AI ready talent has become a strategic priority as organizations across sectors increasingly rely on intelligent technologies for decision making and digital problem solving.

Artificial intelligence has become a central component of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy to diversify the economy beyond hydrocarbons, with the Kingdom continuing to invest in AI infrastructure, cloud computing, smart cities, digital government, and advanced technologies while fostering partnerships with global technology companies and academic institutions. Embedding AI literacy into the national strategy is intended to ensure these investments are supported by a workforce capable of driving innovation and maximizing economic impact, positioning human capital development as a key enabler of the Kingdom’s long term digital transformation ambitions.
