Pakistan’s iconic children’s fantasy show Ainak Wala Jin has made a comeback on the big screen with a new animated movie adaptation. Ainak Wala Jin: The Animated Movie was released in Pakistani cinemas on Friday, July 24, 2026, with the Urdu language film screening at major theater chains including Nueplex, Cinepax, and Centaurus Cineplex.
The animated film runs for approximately 85 minutes and brings the fantastical world of the original television show to a new generation of viewers. The story follows a young boy growing up in a strict environment where his life is governed by rules and responsibilities, until a mysterious elderly neighbor, who turns out to be a jin, opens the door to a magical realm known as Kokaf. The movie has been promoted with the taglines The Magic Returns and A New Journey, The Same Magic, emphasizing both nostalgic appeal and a fresh animated take on the story.
The original Ainak Wala Jin was first televised by PTV Lahore in February 1993 and went on to become one of Pakistan’s most popular children’s programs. Combining real life situations with fantasy and science fiction elements, the show built a loyal following throughout the 1990s, with families and children tuning in regularly for its memorable characters and humor driven storytelling.
The animated adaptation adds to a growing body of Pakistani animated feature films that have emerged in recent years, following successful releases such as The Donkey King and Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor, which have helped establish a domestic animation industry capable of adapting beloved local intellectual property for modern audiences.
