The Federal Board of Revenue has announced a planned system maintenance exercise that will take several of its key digital tax services offline for more than 52 hours this coming weekend. According to a press release issued by the tax authority, the maintenance window will begin at 12:30 AM on Saturday, August 8, 2026, and continue until 5:00 AM on Monday, August 10, 2026.

During this period, taxpayers will be unable to access IRIS, the Federal Board of Revenue’s online tax filing portal, along with Digital Invoicing, the Payment System, the Synchronized Withholding Administration and Payment System known as SWAPS, and POS Registration. The authority confirmed that no transactions will be possible on any of these platforms while the upgrade is underway, affecting routine filing, payment, and registration activities that typically rely on continuous access to these systems.

The Federal Board of Revenue has urged taxpayers and other stakeholders to complete any pending or time sensitive filings, payments, and registrations before the maintenance period begins, in order to avoid last minute disruptions once the systems go offline. The advisory is intended to help businesses and individual taxpayers avoid disruption to time bound compliance obligations that could otherwise be affected by the extended outage. All affected services are expected to resume immediately once the maintenance work is completed.

The scheduled maintenance affects some of Federal Board of Revenue’s most heavily used digital platforms, including the Digital Invoicing system introduced as part of the authority’s broader push toward automated tax reporting, and IRIS, which has previously experienced unplanned technical disruptions that affected taxpayers ahead of filing deadlines. The Federal Board of Revenue apologized for any inconvenience the outage may cause and thanked taxpayers for their cooperation as it carries out the maintenance work across its digital tax infrastructure.
