Punjab Public Service Commission has announced that it will introduce mandatory biometric verification for candidates appearing in its written examinations, beginning with the upcoming Deputy Accountant recruitment test. According to the commission, the biometric verification system will be implemented during the written examinations scheduled for July 25 and 26, 2026, marking the first large-scale rollout of the technology within the commission’s testing process.

More than 60,000 candidates are expected to appear for the Deputy Accountant examination, all of whom will be required to complete biometric verification at their respective examination centers before being permitted to enter the examination hall. Punjab Public Service Commission Secretary Afzal Ahmed said the new system has been introduced to make the examination process more transparent, secure, and credible, adding that biometric verification will help eliminate impersonation and ensure that only genuine, registered candidates are able to sit for the examinations.

The commission confirmed that the Deputy Accountant recruitment test will serve as the first written examination to use the new verification system, positioning it as a pilot for a broader rollout across the organization’s testing infrastructure. Punjab Public Service Commission also announced plans to gradually extend biometric verification to other large scale written examinations involving more than 60,000 candidates, indicating that the technology is intended to become a standard feature of the commission’s recruitment process rather than a one time measure tied to a single exam cycle.

The move reflects a broader trend among Pakistani public sector recruitment bodies to incorporate biometric and digital verification tools into high stakes testing processes, aimed at curbing impersonation and strengthening public confidence in exam integrity. Similar identity verification measures have already been adopted in other areas of Pakistan’s financial and administrative systems, and the extension of biometric checks to large scale public examinations reflects a continued shift toward technology driven safeguards in processes that have historically relied on manual identity checks at test centers.
