Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi officially launched the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Digital Transformation Policy and Roadmap 2030 at the Chief Minister’s House, describing it as a decisive step toward digital governance, transparent administration, and a stronger digital economy in the province. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Afridi said the policy stands among Pakistan’s most comprehensive digital frameworks, providing a complete blueprint to move Khyber Pakhtunkhwa toward modern, efficient, transparent, and citizen friendly governance in the coming years.
The chief minister said the provincial government continues working toward realizing a long standing vision for a digitally transformed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and praised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board and relevant departments for their role in developing the roadmap through extensive consultations that took international best practices and future requirements into account. The Digital Transformation Policy and Roadmap 2030 comprises five strategic pillars, nine core objectives, 32 thematic domains, and 915 strategic interventions, incorporating clear targets, actionable timelines, institutional responsibilities, and a comprehensive monitoring framework intended to keep the transformation process phased, integrated, and sustainable.
Afridi said paperless governance and digital reforms would significantly improve transparency, accountability, speed, and efficiency across the bureaucratic system, arguing that reducing human intervention in official matters would strengthen merit, transparency, and accountability. He said the government intends to gradually move all public services online and make them citizen centric, allowing residents to access fast, quality services through a single platform. He highlighted that one of the most beneficial aspects of the plan is that people in remote areas would be spared unnecessary visits to government offices, instead being able to access required services and information from home.
The chief minister added that the provincial government is placing particular focus on equipping youth with globally competitive digital capabilities, with the roadmap’s objectives including targeted training programs intended to build AI related skills among 100,000 young people across the province. The launch positions Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alongside other provinces that have pursued structured digital governance frameworks in recent years, as provincial governments across Pakistan continue expanding e-governance initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and reducing bureaucratic friction for citizens.
