ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi said it was important to integrate information technology (IT) into both Houses of Parliament in order to boost its effectiveness and to help develop an efficient system of monitoring and control of legislative enterprises. The President said that in order to ensure effective secretariat and committee management as well as decision-making, digitalization of Parliament was required.
The meeting included members such as Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar, Minister for IT and Telecommunication (IT&T) Syed Aminul Haq, Secretary IT&T Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, Executive Director National Information Technology Board (NITB) Shabahat Ali Shah, Secretary Senate Syed Pervez Abbas, and Secretary National Assembly Tahir Hussain.
The president said this while chairing the President’s Cyber-Efficient Parliament Initiative meeting at Parliament House on Wednesday. The President was briefed on the steps taken by the parliament’s related automation organisations.
Lastly, he requested the stakeholders concerned to take action to digitize Parliament by June 2021.
