IEEE COMSOC UET Faisalabad Organizes New Educational Webinar On Wireless Channels

The IEEE Communications Society chapter at UET Faisalabad held a webinar exploring the fundamentals of wireless channels, covering how wireless signals travel, what affects signal quality, and how these principles connect to the development of 5G and 6G networks. The session was organized by COMSOC IEEE UET FSD and held on August 20 via Google Meet, led by Dr. Zaid Ahmad as the featured speaker.

The webinar aimed to give students a foundational understanding of wireless communication, an area central to electrical and telecommunication engineering coursework and increasingly relevant as next generation network technologies continue to develop. By focusing on the wireless channel itself, the session offered participants a technical grounding intended to bridge classroom theory with the practical considerations shaping modern network infrastructure.

The event was organized in collaboration with several partner IEEE student branches, including COMSOC IEEE UET RCET, IEEE GCUF SB, COMSOC IEEE UET Narowal, COMSOC IEEE UET Taxila and IEEE MNSUET, reflecting a broader pattern of joint programming among IEEE student chapters across different Pakistani engineering institutions. This kind of inter university collaboration allows smaller student branches to pool resources and speaker access, extending technical content beyond what any single chapter might organize independently.

The webinar adds to a series of technical sessions run by IEEE student branches across Pakistan aimed at supplementing formal engineering education with focused, expert led discussions on emerging technology topics. For students at UET Faisalabad and its partner institutions, sessions like this one offer direct engagement with foundational telecommunications concepts that underpin the ongoing global rollout of next generation wireless networks.
