Jazz has advanced Pakistan’s telecom infrastructure by becoming the first mobile operator in the country to deploy 1.2 terabits per second per wavelength on its optical transport network. The deployment was completed in collaboration with Huawei and represents a step forward in strengthening high-capacity, next-generation connectivity nationwide.
The newly implemented optical technology significantly enhances Jazz’s core and aggregation networks, allowing them to carry substantially higher volumes of data with improved efficiency. As data-intensive services continue to expand, including cloud-based platforms, digital business solutions, and advanced mobile broadband, the increased per-wavelength capacity enables smoother traffic flow and reduced network congestion. In addition to the 1.2 Tbps deployment, Jazz has also introduced Pakistan’s first 100 Gbps Fiber-to-the-Site ring, setting another benchmark within the local telecom sector. This upgrade strengthens last-mile fiber performance, which plays a critical role in supporting enterprise connectivity, mobile backhaul operations, and data-heavy digital applications. By improving throughput and reliability at the access level, the FTTS ring enhances service quality for enterprise customers while also reinforcing the backbone required for modern mobile networks.
