Taking inspiration from a Fast and Furious movie scene, Mushahid Hussain, a Mechatronics Engineering student, has developed a system which lets the user control their car remotely.
The young engineer developed this entire system as part of his Final-Year Project (FYP) that took 60 hours to complete. Mushahid developed an android application that allows one to control their car.
The application is now available on the Play Store, and has features such as turning the car on/off, steering, accelerating, breaking etc.
Speaking about his project to the local news, he said “This can help people park and unpark in narrow and crowded places. This technology is not in Pakistan and is scarcely available in the Middle-East.”
The biggest challenge he faced while developing the app was to maintain the originality of the car and ensure that the entire circuitry, an on-board solution, can be uninstalled anytime and applied to another car.
The remote-control car is not very complex to use, explaining the working he said, the kit is plugged to a USB socket which is mounted in the car’s cigarette lighter socket.
Furthermore, the entire project cost Mushahid close to Rs. 7,000. The entire app was developed and designed by Mushahid himself, along with the implementation of the circuits.
