Reckitt Pakistan marked Global Handwashing Day by launching its first artificial intelligence (AI) powered, long format animation for the Dettol Hygiene Education Program, as part of Saaf Sehatmand Pakistan. The animation was created in Pakistan, and it brings a new creative format to the program by using technology and storytelling to make hygiene lessons more engaging and memorable for children. The launch took place on Global Handwashing Day, a date that is observed to draw attention to handwashing with soap, and the company chose it to introduce a format that is intended to hold the attention of young viewers and to help them remember what they learn.

At the Global Handwashing Day school session, children watched the animation and took part in interactive activities. They learnt about the eight essential steps of handwashing and about the importance of keeping their surroundings clean. By combining a screening with activities, the session gave children a chance to see the lessons told as a story and then to practise them, which is meant to help the message stay with them after the session ends. The focus on both handwashing and a clean environment shows that the program treats personal hygiene and the cleanliness of the places where children live and study as connected topics.

The Dettol Hygiene Education Program has helped children learn practical hygiene habits for more than a decade, and it reaches around two million children each year. The animation adds a storytelling format to this work, helping children connect with its hygiene messages and understand how handwashing with soap fits into everyday life. The new format therefore builds on a long running effort, rather than replacing it, and it gives the program another way to present its lessons to the large number of children who take part in it every year.

Saaf Sehatmand Pakistan is the flagship social impact platform of Reckitt Pakistan, and it is powered by Dettol and Harpic. It brings together the work of the company across health, hygiene, sanitation and access to safe water under one long term ambition, which is to help build a cleaner and healthier Pakistan. Through this platform, Reckitt advances its commitment to putting Better Health in More Hands, Every Day. The launch of the animation on Global Handwashing Day is part of that platform, and it shows how the company is using new technology to deliver hygiene education to children in schools across the country.
