Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), through its Suleman Dawood School of Business, is set to host an exclusive seminar focused on the rapidly evolving landscape of financial technology and digital money in Pakistan. The event, titled “Future of Fintech and Digital Money,” will bring together leading voices from the banking and fintech industries to explore how innovation is transforming financial ecosystems and driving the future of digital economies.

The seminar will take place at the LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship on Wednesday, 15th October, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. It will feature in-depth discussions on emerging fintech trends, digital payments, cryptocurrencies, blockchain advancements, and their role in reshaping both local and global financial systems.

The session will be moderated by Muhammad Yar Hiraj, Adjunct Faculty at SDSB, and will feature a distinguished panel including Ali Mukhtar from Fatima Fertiliser Group and sponsor of Burq Digital Bank, Nofel Daud, Group Head Retail Banking at Bank of Punjab, Qaiser Raza Sheikh, Executive Director at Opay Limited, Waseem Malik, Digital Payments Ecosystem Expert at Karandaaz Pakistan, and Dr. Zartash Uzmi, Professor at LUMS Center for Digital Assets Research.

Key discussion points will revolve around the latest fintech innovations, evolving regulatory frameworks, and the strategic role of digital finance in driving financial inclusion. The panelists will also shed light on how Pakistan can position itself as a competitive player in the global digital economy through technology-driven solutions.

The seminar aims to provide a platform for industry leaders, innovators, and academics to engage in meaningful conversations that will shape the trajectory of Pakistan’s fintech sector. Attendees will gain insights into cutting-edge digital payment models, decentralized finance trends, and how blockchain applications are disrupting traditional financial structures.

The event will also emphasize networking opportunities, bringing together fintech professionals, entrepreneurs, investors, and students. By connecting academia with industry, the seminar is expected to spark collaboration that could support the development of new fintech products, services, and regulatory innovations tailored to the Pakistani market.

In recent years, Pakistan has seen rapid growth in its fintech sector, with digital payment solutions, banking digitization, and startup innovation driving financial inclusion. Events like this are increasingly significant as the country explores frameworks to support digital currencies, fintech startups, and cross-border payment solutions.

This seminar is particularly relevant for finance and technology students, fintech entrepreneurs, policy makers, and investors seeking a deeper understanding of how digital transformation is reshaping the financial landscape. Participants can expect a forward-looking conversation about the future of money, focusing on practical applications, policy implications, and industry opportunities.
