Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) successfully hosted the inaugural Data Fest-2024 at the Pak China Friendship Center on October 21-22, 2024.

The event brought together a diverse group of experts, researchers, and data enthusiasts to explore the transformative power of data in shaping policies and driving innovation. The Data Fest aimed to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and actionable strategies to address critical challenges facing Pakistan, including healthcare access, social equity, and sustainable development.

Renowned data scientists, statisticians, and information technology experts delivered insightful speeches, highlighting the potential of data in policymaking and innovation. Attendees actively participated in hands-on workshops, exhibitions, and a data visualization competition, showcasing the latest advancements in data technologies.

The Data Fest featured thematic discussions on governance, climate resilience, and other pressing issues. Stakeholders from organizations such as NADRA, SUPARCO, UNFPA, UNICEF, the World Bank, and provincial bureaus of statistics participated in these engaging sessions.

International and regional experts from organizations like the United Nations and Asian Development Bank delivered keynote speeches, sharing their valuable insights on data-driven development. A total of 50 workshops were conducted across six workstations, covering a wide range of data integration and visualization topics.

The event also featured an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge data products and tools from organizations such as NADRA, SUPARCO, KPITB, AJK (IT Board), Pakistan Software Export Board, World Bank, UNICEF, UNFPA, and various IT firms.

Panel discussions on six key topics, including harnessing demographic data for policy and legislation to address Pakistan’s high population, provided opportunities for in-depth discussions and exchange of ideas.

Data Fest-2024 was a resounding success, demonstrating the growing importance of data in driving progress and addressing complex challenges in Pakistan. The event fostered collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation, laying the groundwork for a data-driven future for the country.
