DHA Suffa University’s Software Engineering Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Project Management Institute (PMI) to strengthen connections between academic education and professional project management practices. The partnership is intended to provide students and faculty with opportunities to engage with internationally recognised professional standards and develop project management skills alongside their technical education.

The MoU was initiated by Dr Raazia Sosan and establishes a collaboration between the university’s Software Engineering Department and PMI. According to DHA Suffa University, the partnership will create pathways for students and faculty to pursue globally recognised professional credentials. The initiative is also aimed at connecting academic curricula with international industry standards, giving participants exposure to project management practices that extend beyond software development and technical coding.

A key focus of the collaboration is the development of broader professional skills among students and faculty. Project management, leadership and other professional capabilities are increasingly relevant to software engineering roles, where technology projects require planning, coordination, communication and management alongside technical expertise. Through its association with PMI, the university expects the collaboration to provide students with access to professional development opportunities connected to project management and related disciplines.

The partnership also reflects DHA Suffa University’s focus on building links between academic programmes and professional practice. By combining the university’s Software Engineering education with PMI’s professional network, the MoU is intended to support student employability, faculty development and longer-term academic engagement. The announcement does not provide details about specific certification programmes, examination arrangements, training schedules, fees or the number of students and faculty members expected to participate. Further information about the implementation of the collaboration was not disclosed.
