The Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (B-TEVTA) has discussed opportunities for greater cooperation with the British High Commission to support technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Balochistan. Managing Director B-TEVTA Abdul Kabeer Zarkoon, accompanied by a delegation, met British Deputy High Commissioner Alison Blackburne in a meeting focused on skills development and the future of vocational education in the province.

During the meeting, Blackburne acknowledged the contribution of B-TEVTA to technical and vocational education and training across Balochistan. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation and work together on initiatives aimed at further developing the province’s vocational education sector. The discussion also highlighted opportunities to increase access to skills development for young people and support technical training that can contribute to employment opportunities.

The role of the British Council in supporting skills development and technical education in Balochistan was also discussed. Blackburne reaffirmed the British High Commission’s support for the promotion of technical education in the region. B-TEVTA currently operates under the Government of Balochistan and is responsible for regulating and promoting technical education and vocational training across the province, with a network that includes government technical and vocational training centres.

The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to build international cooperation around technical and vocational education in Balochistan. However, the officials did not announce a specific funding commitment, new training programme, number of beneficiaries, implementation schedule or formal agreement as part of the meeting. The engagement instead established areas for continued cooperation, with both sides indicating support for further work in technical education and skills development. The meeting concluded with an exchange of commemorative shields between the delegations.
