The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced a digital process allowing taxpayers to update biometric verification for sales tax registration through the NADRA PakID application. The process enables taxpayers to complete the required identity verification using their smartphones instead of relying solely on physical verification channels. The facility uses NADRA’s PakID platform for biometric verification and provides taxpayers with a digital route for completing the verification requirements associated with sales tax registration.

To begin the process, taxpayers need to log in to the NADRA PakID application and select the “Biometric MBVs” option. They can then choose the relevant verification option and proceed to the next step. The verification process requires completion of facial liveness and fingerprint verification, allowing the applicant’s identity to be checked through multiple biometric methods. NADRA identifies PakID as its official mobile application for identity registration, updates and service tracking, while its verification services include biometric systems that use fingerprints and facial recognition for identity authentication.

After completing the biometric checks, applicants need to enter the required application details in the PakID application. The industry field is to be selected as the Federal Board of Revenue, while the purpose is specified as “Biometric Verification for Sales Tax Registration.” Applicants can also select their preferred priority level, with the available options shown as Normal or Executive. Once these details have been entered, taxpayers can review the information provided before submitting the application for processing.

The digital process provides an additional route for completing biometric requirements connected with sales tax registration. FBR’s existing sales tax registration guidance states that biometric verification is required after registration and has traditionally directed registered persons to NADRA e-Sahulat centres for verification within 30 days. The new PakID-based process brings the biometric step into a mobile application environment, using facial liveness and fingerprint verification. Taxpayers can therefore complete the application steps digitally through PakID and review the submitted information before final submission, while the underlying sales tax registration requirements remain governed by FBR procedures.
