The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), in collaboration with the Punjab Excise Department, has opened online registration for the October auction of premium vehicle registration numbers. Citizens can participate through the e-Auction application and web portal and bid for preferred registration numbers for motorcycles, motorcars and commercial vehicles. Registration for the current auction will remain open until October 31, allowing applicants to complete the process online without visiting government offices.
The digital platform has been developed to facilitate the auction of attractive registration marks across the three vehicle categories. Users can register and participate in the bidding process through the e-Auction app or web portal, while information about successful bidders is also made available through the application. The Punjab Excise Department’s policy provides for attractive registration marks to be allotted through a web and mobile application-based e-Auction process. The policy also sets reserve prices for different categories of preferred registration marks, with the availability of specific numbers published on the platform before each auction round.
PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf said the e-Auction platform uses digital technology to provide citizens with a secure and transparent mechanism for bidding on their preferred vehicle registration numbers. According to PITB, moving the process online is intended to improve efficiency, reduce the need for physical visits and make the service more accessible to citizens. The initiative is part of Punjab’s wider use of digital platforms for government services and follows previous monthly auctions conducted through the same system. The September auction, for example, also covered motorcycles, motorcars and commercial vehicles through the PITB and Punjab Excise e-Auction platform.
Under the Punjab Excise policy, applicants can select an available registration mark of their choice through the e-Auction system and pay a non-refundable participation fee of Rs. 100 through ePay. Applicants are required to provide details including their CNIC or National Tax Number and vehicle chassis number, while the allotted registration mark is linked to the vehicle owned by the applicant or to a vehicle being registered through transfer of ownership. The policy also specifies minimum reserve prices for various attractive marks, although the final amount for a particular number depends on the auction process. The latest October announcement does not provide a separate list of the numbers available in this round, so applicants will need to check the e-Auction platform for the available registration marks and bidding details.
