Pakistan is set to host its first ever major global PUBG Mobile esports tournament with the PUBG Mobile Global Open 2026 Season 2, scheduled for October 2026. The announcement was originally made by Level Infinite and Krafton during the PMGC Grand Final roadmap reveal, marking a significant milestone for the country’s competitive gaming community as it prepares to welcome top international teams for the first time on home soil.
The tournament carries a total prize pool of $500,000 and will feature 32 teams drawn from multiple regions around the world. Slots have been distributed across several zones, with Southeast Asia receiving five places, South Asia three places, Eastern Europe and Central Asia four places, and Turkey five places, alongside additional slots for other participating regions, including MENA and Africa. As the host country, Pakistan will also receive two direct slots, which will be awarded to the top finishers from the PUBG Mobile Pakistan Open 2026, scheduled for October 3 and 4, giving local teams a clear path into the main event without relying on invitations alone.
Several regional qualifiers have already concluded or are nearing completion ahead of the main event. Pakistan’s own 4Thrives Esports, the defending PMGO champion after winning the tournament’s first season held in Indonesia earlier this year, has already secured its place in Season 2 by winning the South Asia Finals. The EECA Finals and Turkey Finals were scheduled to conclude by late September, with the top finishers from each advancing directly to the main event in Pakistan, adding to the growing list of confirmed participants ahead of the tournament. The Southeast Asia Finals were held earlier in September in Malaysia, where 16 teams competed for five of the available spots in the main event, further narrowing the field of qualified squads heading into October.
PMGO runs as a two season circuit each year, with Season 1 of the 2026 edition held in Indonesia in June, won by Pakistan’s own 4Thrives Esports. Pakistan’s selection to host Season 2 marks the first time the country has staged a major international PUBG Mobile tournament of this scale, following previous PMGO editions held in countries such as Brazil, Uzbekistan and Indonesia in recent seasons. The tournament will also carry PMGC points for participating teams, feeding into the broader season long standings ahead of the PUBG Mobile Global Championship, the circuit’s biggest annual event.
Hosting the event represents a notable step for Pakistan’s esports scene, which has produced competitive PUBG Mobile teams in past international tournaments without previously hosting a major global event of this scale on home soil. Level Infinite and Krafton have not yet confirmed the exact dates, venue or match format for the main event, though the October 2026 window has been set since the initial roadmap announcement. For Pakistan’s gaming community, the tournament offers a rare opportunity to watch top international teams compete in person, while also placing the country more prominently on the map of global esports hosts.
