PTA has selected ten international firms to assist in the upcoming 5G spectrum auction. Initially, eleven companies expressed interest, but one was disqualified. The government aims to complete the auction by April 2025.

The chosen consultants will develop a strategy to maximize the value of the 5G spectrum, ensuring it benefits the Pakistani economy and society. Their responsibilities include developing a pricing model for different spectrum bands, analyzing the impact of 5G on health and safety, and recommending policy changes to promote infrastructure investment and broadband expansion.

PTA seeks to optimize spectrum allocation, encourage competition, and foster the growth of the telecommunications sector. By following international best practices, the authority hopes to attract significant foreign investment and accelerate Pakistan’s digital transformation. The auction is expected to generate substantial revenue for the government and pave the way for widespread 5G coverage across the country.
