Pakistan’s ICT export performance has recorded significant growth at the beginning of fiscal year 2026–27, with ICT export remittances reaching US$394 million in August, representing a 16.9% increase compared with the same month last year. The latest figures indicate continued growth in international demand for Pakistan’s technology and digital services, with the sector generating higher export earnings during the opening months of FY27. The increase also adds to the country’s broader efforts to expand technology exports and increase the contribution of the IT industry to the national economy.
During the first two months of FY27, Pakistan’s ICT exports reached US$811 million, recording year-on-year growth of 17.37%. ICT emerged as the largest services export category during the period by a considerable margin, ahead of Other Business Services, which recorded exports of US$420 million. The figures highlight the scale of Pakistan’s technology and digital services exports compared with other services categories and reflect the growing role of IT companies and technology professionals in generating foreign exchange through international business.
The ICT sector also recorded a cumulative trade surplus of US$680 million during July and August, marking a 15% increase compared with the same period last year. This was the largest trade surplus recorded among Pakistan’s services sectors during the two-month period. The surplus reflects the sector’s ability to generate export earnings while maintaining relatively limited import requirements compared with other areas of the services economy. The growth in both export receipts and the trade surplus provides an indication of the increasing contribution of ICT businesses to Pakistan’s external accounts.
The latest performance also highlights the role of organisations such as the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) in supporting the country’s technology export ecosystem. PSEB works with Pakistani technology companies to facilitate access to international markets, build global business connections and create opportunities for the IT sector to expand its overseas customer base. With US$811 million in ICT exports recorded during the first two months of FY27 and the sector’s trade surplus reaching US$680 million, the opening performance provides a strong indication of the growing importance of technology services within Pakistan’s overall export structure.
