The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) is exploring a partnership with Japan-based Plus W to create greater market access and business opportunities for Pakistani technology companies seeking to enter the Japanese market. The discussions took place in Tokyo between PSEB CEO Faisal Jeddy and Director, Business Development & Partnerships Shahbaz Hameed and Takashi Horiuchi, Executive Vice President and COO of Plus W. The meeting was facilitated by the Embassy of Pakistan in Japan, with Ambassador Abdul Hameed also in attendance, and focused on developing stronger business-to-business connections between Pakistan and Japan.

The proposed collaboration could provide Pakistani technology companies with greater access to Japanese market knowledge, business networks and potential partners. Discussions covered Japanese-language and business-culture training, business matchmaking, connections with Japanese buyers and companies, and B2B engagement between businesses in both countries. These initiatives are intended to help Pakistani companies better understand the Japanese market and establish relationships that can support their expansion into Japan.

The two sides also discussed opportunities to bring Japanese companies and business delegations to Pakistan while exploring potential cooperation in areas including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and robotics. Plus W is already working with Pakistani companies and universities, providing an existing foundation for further collaboration between organisations in the two countries. The meeting also considered pilot projects involving Pakistani and Japanese companies that could provide a practical pathway for developing longer-term commercial relationships.

For PSEB, the engagement forms part of its broader efforts to open international markets for Pakistan’s IT industry and create stronger connections between local technology companies and global businesses. The focus on Japan provides an opportunity to build company-to-company relationships alongside institutional cooperation, with both sides discussing ways to maintain continuity in Pakistan-Japan ICT engagement. The next phase will involve exploring how the proposed training, matchmaking and B2B initiatives can translate the discussions into sustained commercial opportunities for technology companies in both markets.
