The second General Assembly of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on February 5th. DCO Member States will be present to discuss strategic directions and efforts to promote digital prosperity for all countries. The General Assembly will bring together ministers from the 13 DCO member states, high-level delegations from DCO observers, representatives from guest countries, and representatives from international organisations to discuss the state of the digital economy and the difficulties that all countries face in achieving equitable global digital growth and development.

The DCO Member States will convene in person for the first time at the second General Assembly, marking two years of development for the worldwide organisation that was created to support social prosperity and growth by coordinating efforts to advance and spark interest in the digital economy.

The historic occasion, which will be held at the Fairmont Hotel in Riyadh, will also highlight the qualitative advancements made by the member nations in their transition to a tech-driven economy.

In light of the fact that 70% of the new value created in the global economy over the next ten years will be based on digitally enabled platforms, Deemah AlYahya, secretary-general of the DCO, stated: “Digital technologies have immense potential to transform economies and empower groups including women and entrepreneurs with new opportunities. Therefore, it is crucial that all nations have the same ability to leverage the power of digitalization to achieve their goals. The DCO was established in order to speed up the digital transformation through cooperation and knowledge exchange among all stakeholders, giving countries the ability to design their own digital development strategies and programmes and to participate equitably in the global digital economy.

“I am very happy that the Ministers from DCO Member States will meet in Riyadh, the DCO’s headquarters, for the 2nd General Assembly to mark two years of progress towards the DCO’s goals and to continue the discussions on how we can achieve digital prosperity for all in collaboration with our international observers from the ecosystem stakeholders representing the private sector, academia, think tanks, and civil society organisations,” AlYahya continued.

The DCO is a global multilateral organisation established in November 2020 with a focus on empowering youth, women, and entrepreneurs, leveraging the accelerative power of the digital economy, and leapfrogging with innovation. Its mission is to enable digital prosperity for all by accelerating the inclusive growth of the digital economy. In addition to the commercial sector, academic community, and NGO Observer Members, DCO currently has thirteen Member States: Bahrain, Cyprus, Djibouti, The Gambia, Ghana, Jordan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Oman, Nigeria, Rwanda, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia.
