The famous ride-sharing app Careem reached the milestone of finishing one billion rides worldwide on Tuesday, and Pakistan was designated the country that contributed the most to the achievement.
In the Middle East, North Africa, and Pakistan, Careem celebrated 1 billion ride-hailing rides, according to the announcement.
“Careem captains have driven over 9 billion kilometres across more than 80 cities over the last ten years,”
the statement read, noting that Pakistan had logged the most rides to date with 299 million, followed by 242 million in Saudi Arabia and 230 million in Egypt.
According to the press statement, the longest journey in 2020 covered 1,113 kilometres from Riyadh to Jazan in Saudi Arabia, while the shortest trip was 200 metres in Lahore.
According to the announcement, Careem has more than 50 million registered consumers and 2.5 million registered captains, who have made over $4 billion in total thus far. “35,139 excursions in Jordan are the most travels taken by a Careem captain,” it continued.
The maximum number of rides ever booked by a consumer in Saudi Arabia was over 9,500, it was noted.
According to the press release, Captain Razak Uppattil, who is from Kerala in India and has been employed by the company for four years, completed the one billionth voyage in Qatar. He has travelled over the platform 10,500 times.

According to the news announcement, the first manually scheduled journey using the ride-hailing app occurred in the United Arab Emirates in September 2012.
As the first ride-hailing company to accept cash payments, Careem saw an increase in popularity throughout the region, it continued.
“From 31% in 2016 to 44% in 2022, the percentage of Careem rides paid for digitally has increased.”
“Careem offers more than a dozen services,” the statement ended, “including ride-hailing, food and grocery delivery, micro-mobility, payments, and partner services including home cleaning, car rental, event booking, and on-demand laundry services.”
