Polish developer Rebel Wolves has confirmed that its debut game, The Blood of Dawnwalker, has officially gone gold, locking in its September 3 launch date with no further delays expected. Going gold means the game’s core development is complete and the master version has moved into manufacturing and certification, with the studio now focused on final polish and day one patches ahead of release.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is an open world dark fantasy action RPG set in a supernatural 14th century Europe, unfolding against the backdrop of war and the Black Death. Players take on the role of Coen, a Dawnwalker caught between humanity and vampirism, who must save his family within a strict 30 day window while navigating a region increasingly dominated by vampires who have emerged from hiding to reclaim power. The narrative is shaped by the player’s choices, the secrets they uncover, and the alliances they choose to form along the way.
One of the game’s more distinctive design choices is its rejection of traditional main and side quest structures, leaving only the central objective of saving Coen’s family. How players choose to pursue that goal is left entirely open, with the developer noting that players could, in theory, storm the castle of the story’s main antagonist, Brencis, almost immediately after the game’s prologue if they choose to take that risk early.
Rebel Wolves was founded in 2022 by veteran developers who previously worked on The Witcher 3, including director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, and has grown to around 160 employees while developing its debut title on Unreal Engine 5. The studio secured funding from Chinese gaming company NetEase before partnering with Bandai Namco Entertainment, which is publishing The Blood of Dawnwalker globally. The game has already surpassed 2 million wishlists across all platforms ahead of launch, reflecting strong early interest in the studio’s first release.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is set to launch on September 3 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, priced at 69.99 dollars, with Deluxe and Collector’s Edition options also available for players wanting additional content such as the game’s soundtrack and a digital comic book. Rebel Wolves has described the title as the first chapter in a broader saga, with plans to continue Coen’s story across future instalments spanning different eras and locations beyond the game’s initial medieval setting, positioning The Blood of Dawnwalker as the opening entry in what the studio hopes will become a long running narrative driven RPG series.
