More than 1,500 gamers are competing in the Sindh Esports Championship 2026 for a prize pool of 3 million rupees over more than a month, in what officials describe as the largest government level esports championship in Pakistan. Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah addressed the inaugural ceremony of the championship, held at Liaquat Library, emphasizing the provincial government’s broader commitment to sports infrastructure across Sindh.
During his address, Nasir Hussain Shah said the Sindh government has built world class sports infrastructure across the province, pointing to the recent hosting of the 35th National Games after an eighteen year gap, an event that brought together more than 10,000 athletes from across Pakistan. He framed the esports championship as an extension of this broader sporting commitment, positioning competitive gaming alongside traditional sports as an area the provincial government is actively investing in.
According to earlier reporting, the championship’s online matches are being held across different stages, with more than 1,000 teams from across the province taking part in the competition running from August 24 through the first week of October. A closing ceremony will be held at the finals, where the total prize money will be distributed among the winning teams, giving the event a structured, multi stage format similar to previous editions of the tournament held under the provincial government’s sports and youth affairs department.
The championship builds on the inaugural Sindh Esports Championship held in 2025, which featured a prize pool of 1.5 million rupees and centered on Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant competitions with LAN finals held in Karachi. This year’s expanded prize pool and participant numbers reflect the provincial government’s continued push to formalize esports as a recognized competitive category, giving young gamers across Sindh a structured platform to showcase their skills alongside the province’s more traditional sporting investments.
