PASHA Vice Chairman Raheel Iqbal participated as an industry panel expert at the Export Opportunities from Pakistan seminar organised by the Corporate Relationship Committee of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on July 10, representing the information technology sector alongside panellists from Pakistan’s textile and rice export industries.
The panel brought together Raheel Iqbal alongside Ammara Shamim Gondal, Chief Financial Officer of Reem Rice Private Limited, and Awais Kamal, Director of Sales and Marketing at Sapphire Textile Mills, giving the seminar a cross-sectoral perspective on Pakistan’s export landscape that covered technology services, agribusiness, and high-value textiles within a single discussion. The Corporate Relationship Committee’s decision to include information technology alongside these established export categories reflects the sector’s growing prominence in national export conversations, where it has consistently delivered double-digit growth even as merchandise exports have faced headwinds.
During the panel discussion, Raheel Iqbal highlighted the expanding contribution of Pakistan’s information technology and information technology-enabled services sector to national export revenues, positioning the sector’s performance within the broader context of Pakistan’s economic trajectory. He emphasised innovation, digital transformation, and stronger collaboration between industry and government as the three key drivers that will determine how far Pakistan’s information technology sector can extend its global competitiveness and sustain its export growth momentum over the coming years. His remarks aligned with recent data showing that information technology and information technology-enabled services exports crossed $4 billion in the first 11 months of fiscal year 2025-26, with the sector tracking toward one of its strongest annual performances on record.
The seminar provided a platform for dialogue on how Pakistan can build on existing export strengths across multiple sectors simultaneously, with the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry framing the discussion around identifying opportunities, removing structural barriers, and advancing the policy and institutional conditions needed for sustainable export-led economic growth.
