Pakistan is seeking to strengthen its economic relationship with Egypt by expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and industrial development. Speaking at a reception held in Islamabad to mark Egypt’s National Day, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan emphasized the need to build on the long standing diplomatic relationship between the two countries by developing broader commercial partnerships that support sustainable economic growth. The minister highlighted the importance of moving beyond conventional trade and establishing long term collaboration focused on investment, joint production, and stronger regional value chains that can create new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
During his address, Jam Kamal Khan said Pakistan and Egypt possess complementary economic strengths that position them to become strategic economic partners rather than only trading nations. He encouraged both countries to pursue greater cooperation in commerce, manufacturing, and industrial collaboration by developing joint value chains capable of increasing industrial capacity, creating employment opportunities, and expanding exports to regional as well as international markets. According to the minister, Egypt provides Pakistani businesses with an important gateway to African, Arab, and Mediterranean markets through its established manufacturing and distribution capabilities. At the same time, Pakistan offers Egyptian investors access to South Asian markets through its expanding industrial base and strategic geographic location. He also invited Egyptian companies to explore investment opportunities across multiple sectors, including power, telecommunications, financial services, and real estate, while encouraging stronger engagement between private sector organizations from both countries.
The minister also highlighted the importance of increasing business exchanges and commercial engagement to strengthen bilateral economic relations. As part of these efforts, he announced Pakistan’s intention to participate in the Food Africa 2026 exhibition scheduled to take place in Egypt later this year. He further invited Egyptian companies and business representatives to participate in Pakistan’s upcoming food, agriculture, and textile exhibitions, describing these events as valuable platforms for promoting business networking, trade partnerships, and investment opportunities. The emphasis on greater participation in international trade exhibitions reflects both countries’ interest in expanding commercial ties and identifying new areas for economic cooperation across multiple industries.
Jam Kamal Khan also acknowledged Egypt’s support in facilitating Pakistan’s humanitarian assistance to Gaza, describing it as a reflection of the close cooperation and mutual understanding shared by both countries. Egypt’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan, stated that bilateral relations have gained significant momentum during the past two years through a series of high level diplomatic exchanges. He expressed confidence that the renewed engagement between the two countries would contribute to meaningful progress in trade, investment, and broader economic cooperation. Pakistan and Egypt have maintained strong diplomatic relations since the early years of Pakistan’s independence, and the growing focus on commercial collaboration demonstrates the shared commitment of both governments to expand economic engagement and strengthen long term regional connectivity through enhanced business and investment partnerships.
