Spotify has begun rolling out a new AI powered feature that allows users to chat directly with the music streaming service through a built in chatbot, effectively turning the app into a conversational music assistant. The feature is available on mobile devices and can be accessed from both the home screen and the now playing view, letting users speak or type to have back and forth conversations similar to other AI chatbots on the market.

Through the assistant, users can learn more about the music they enjoy, revisit their listening history, explore podcasts and audiobooks, or discover artists they have never listened to before. Once a track starts playing, listeners can continue refining recommendations simply by continuing the conversation, allowing the experience to adapt in real time based on their preferences. The chatbot also enables users to perform common actions just by asking, including saving songs, adding tracks to the queue, following artists, and managing playback through voice or text commands.

While a song is playing, users can ask the assistant questions about it, such as its inspiration, genre, or the album’s release date, and the AI can provide additional context, suggest related artists, and share background stories connected to the music. For podcasts and audiobooks, the chatbot can answer questions about the people, stories, and ideas featured in the content, and it can also respond to questions about a listener’s own habits and taste in music, making the experience feel more personalized over time.

The feature is currently launching in beta for Premium subscribers aged eighteen and older in the United States, Ireland, and Sweden, and is available in English on both iOS and Android. Spotify has not disclosed how long the beta phase will last or when the feature might expand to additional markets, leaving open the question of when users elsewhere, including in Pakistan, might get access to the new AI powered assistant.
