Punjab authorities have decided to integrate the Pakistan Post delivery system with the Traffic Police’s Driving License Information Management System to address delays in the delivery of driving license cards. Under the proposed integration, citizens will be able to track their driving license cards online and check their current delivery location in real time.
At present, the Driving License Information Management System only provides information on whether a license card is being processed or printed, without any visibility into its actual delivery status once it leaves traffic police custody. Following the data integration, applicants will additionally be able to view details covering the card’s handover from traffic police to the post office, its ongoing delivery status, and its current location as it moves through the delivery process.
Officials said traffic police have also faced difficulties monitoring license delivery information under the existing system, given the lack of integration between the two separate platforms currently used to process and deliver license cards. The Punjab Information Technology Board has been contacted to facilitate the technical integration required to connect the two systems and enable the new tracking functionality.
Authorities expect the new facility to improve monitoring, increase transparency, and help ensure driving license cards are delivered to citizens within the prescribed timeframe. The initiative reflects a broader pattern of Punjab government departments working to connect previously siloed digital systems, aiming to give citizens greater visibility into administrative processes that have traditionally lacked clear status tracking once a request moves between different government departments or service providers.
