GOVERNEMT TO IMPLEMENT DATA PROTECTION AUTHORITY ACT TO PROTECT DATA IN FUTURE

Personal Data Protection Act has already been drafted by the federal cabinet that will soon be presented in the parliament. The Data Protection Authority will work according to the Act.

The data protection has always been a thing to worry for The Data Protection Authority as leakage of data can lead to many issues for the citizens, for the government as well as for the country.

Recently, the government of Pakistan has announced to protect the data of citizens of Pakistan and their personal information. To do so the government has announced to constitute a Data Protection Authority that will work together on the issue of misusing the data and protect the personal information of the citizens.

Personal Data Protection Act has already been drafted by the federal cabinet that will soon be presented in the parliament. The Data Protection Authority will work according to the Act.

Leakage of data can be troublesome for all let it be a celebrity of a normal middle-class person. After studying the best laws for data protection the new act has been drafted all over the world.  The Authority will make sure that any video, emails or numbers are not leaked of any person in the country.

Personal Data Protection Act will also govern entities that deal directly with data of citizens such as NADRA and Safe City Authorities.

As per Sadaf Baig, the chairperson of Media Matters for Democracy, her organization has written several times about the leakage of data and how the incidents are increasing with time. But there was no further response to the authority.

Nighat Dad, the founder of the Digital Rights Foundation, called for enforcing the new law on public and private organizations alike. In case of leaks, authorities that manage data of citizens shall also be held accountable.
