Muhammad Bilal Abbasi, Chief Executive Officer of Ignite National Technology Fund, represented Pakistan on the World Tech Stage at LEAP 2026 as a panelist in a session titled Tech Diplomacy, When Founders Become Instruments of Foreign Policy. The session brought together global technology and investment leaders to explore how technology partnerships, founders, funds, banks and governments are shaping influence, resilience and cross-border collaboration.

Abbasi shared Pakistan’s perspective on the evolving role of technology and entrepreneurship in building global partnerships and creating new avenues for collaboration. His participation placed Pakistan directly within a conversation typically dominated by larger, more established technology ecosystems, giving the country a platform to articulate how its own founders and technology institutions fit into broader questions of international influence and diplomacy.

The panel format itself reflects a growing recognition within the global technology industry that startups, technology companies and their founders increasingly play a role that extends beyond commercial activity into shaping international relationships and soft power dynamics. By including Abbasi as a panelist, LEAP 2026 organizers positioned Ignite, and by extension Pakistan’s broader innovation ecosystem, as a relevant voice in this emerging conversation about the intersection of technology and foreign policy.

Ignite highlighted the appearance as a proud moment for Pakistan, noting that the country’s technology and innovation ecosystem continues to make its voice heard on the global stage. The panel appearance adds to a series of high profile engagements by Pakistani officials and technology leaders at LEAP 2026, following similar participation from IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja and PSEB CEO Faisal Jeddy earlier in the summit, reflecting a coordinated push to elevate Pakistan’s presence across multiple tracks of the conference.
