Jazz has joined hands with global technology company ZTE and local distributor Siccotel to address a major gap in Pakistan’s connectivity landscape by improving access to affordable 5G-ready smartphones. With only about 2% of devices in Pakistan currently supporting 5G, the collaboration seeks to make next-generation smartphones accessible to a wider audience, supporting digital adoption and fostering economic participation. This partnership comes at a crucial time as the country prepares for upcoming spectrum auctions and ongoing network upgrades.
Through this collaboration, ZTE’s advanced smartphones will be introduced in Pakistan via Siccotel, with Jazz providing nationwide distribution and market access. The initiative is expected to benefit a diverse range of users including students, young professionals, small businesses, and workers, who rely on mobile connectivity for learning, commerce, and daily communication. By lowering device-related barriers, the partnership aims to ensure that advancements in network infrastructure translate into tangible improvements in digital engagement and productivity across the country.
Asad Maqbool, Head of Jazz Consumer Growth, highlighted that smartphones are now an integral part of digital infrastructure. He noted that without devices capable of supporting new technologies, the benefits of 5G networks cannot be fully realized. He emphasized that the collaboration with ZTE and Siccotel strengthens the foundation for broader digital readiness in Pakistan. Li Guowen, CEO of ZTE, reiterated the company’s commitment to making advanced technology more accessible and stated that the initiative aligns with Pakistan’s efforts to enhance its digital ecosystem.
Siccotel CEO Usman Sultan added that the partnership will help ensure availability of 5G-ready devices across Pakistan. By supporting broader smartphone adoption, the collaboration aims to encourage greater participation in digital services, online learning, entrepreneurship, and other activities that rely on fast and reliable mobile connectivity. Jazz continues to invest in expanding access to next-generation devices as part of its commitment to sustainable digital transformation and inclusive connectivity, enabling more Pakistanis to engage fully in the evolving digital economy.
