The Pakistan Digital Authority hosted Khalil Usmani, Chief Executive Officer, and Usman Saeed, Senior Vice President of Investment Banking, of JS Global Capital Ltd. at PDA Headquarters to discuss how the country’s digital transformation efforts can support its emerging investment ecosystem. The meeting centered on the idea that investors direct capital toward systems they can trust, built on verified data, connected institutions, and rules applied consistently, making Pakistan’s digital infrastructure directly relevant to how effectively the country can attract and retain investment.
During the meeting, Dr. Sohail Munir, Chairperson of PDA, briefed the delegation on the Authority’s vision and priorities, with particular focus on Digital Public Infrastructure and WASL, Pakistan’s National Data Exchange Layer. Dr. Munir highlighted the role these systems play in strengthening interoperability and enabling more data driven public services, framing the underlying digital architecture as a foundational layer that supports not just government service delivery but also the broader economic environment investors evaluate when considering opportunities in the country.
The discussion subsequently turned to capital markets enablement, covering Real Estate Investment Trusts and broader investment opportunities available within Pakistan. Participants also discussed how digital infrastructure could improve efficiency across large scale infrastructure projects, as well as within the housing and commercial real estate sectors, suggesting the conversation extended beyond general digital governance topics into specific applications relevant to JS Global Capital’s investment banking operations and the sectors it engages with on behalf of clients and investors.
PDA framed the engagement around the idea that digital public infrastructure makes due diligence faster and risk easier to assess, ultimately lowering the cost of trust within an economy. The Authority positioned meetings of this kind as an opportunity to help shape its digital infrastructure development around the specific needs of those who invest in Pakistan’s growth, reflecting an approach that treats direct engagement with financial sector stakeholders as a way of ensuring the country’s digital public infrastructure evolves in step with practical investment and capital market considerations rather than being developed in isolation from the private sector.
