The Mate 9 brings another victory to Huawei after winning 8 awards at CES 2017. Yesterday, Huawei Mate 9 was used to break the Guinness World Record for the most selfies taken by different people in three minutes. The record breaking event took place at the Palace Downtown Dubai, UAE. 160 high definition selfies were captured in 180 seconds with the iconic Burj Khalifa as a backdrop, which means that about one picture was taken every second. This record completely shatters the previous one. Huawei Mate 9 can reach this speed thanks to its speed.
As per the Guinness World Record guidelines, the selfie was to be taken by an individual using a smartphone or a digital camera and do it within 180 seconds. To achieve this feat, Huawei selected its new flagship device, the Mate 9 and put the device to the speed test.
To capture the selfies for the world record attempt, the team utilized the 8-megapixel front camera on Mate 9 which is equipped with an auto-focus and smile capture. Additionally, the camera uses the new, natural looking skin beautification algorithms developed by Huawei’s Aesthetics Center in France.
With its second-generation dual-lens technology co-engineered with Leica Camera AG, the 12-megapixel RGB sensor and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor work in tandem along with an enhanced image fusion algorithm to offer a great smartphone photography experience.
