In a public alert, HEC said it had received information about individuals claiming to provide such services to applicants, advising people to exercise caution and avoid sharing personal or educational information with such individuals to protect themselves from potential fraud.
HEC clarified that its attestation process is completely online and paperless, allowing applicants to complete the process themselves through the commission’s official system without needing any intermediary. This structure is designed to eliminate the need for third party agents altogether, since the entire process can be handled directly by applicants through HEC’s digital infrastructure.
The commission strongly advised applicants to personally process their attestation cases by following the instructions available on the HEC website, reinforcing that no legitimate reason exists for applicants to rely on outside agents claiming to expedite or facilitate the process. HEC also provided its online help desk and contact numbers for applicants seeking assistance directly from the commission, giving genuine users of the attestation system a verified channel to resolve queries or difficulties.
The warning reflects a recurring pattern seen in digital document verification systems more broadly, where the shift toward online, paperless processes has occasionally been exploited by individuals posing as facilitators to extract personal information or payment from unsuspecting applicants. By reiterating that its attestation system requires no external agents, HEC aims to close off an avenue that has historically been exploited in similar document verification and attestation processes across various institutions, protecting applicants from potential fraud while reinforcing confidence in its own online system.
