Tax Bar Association Demands Weekly SIM Blocking Update

KTBA has urged FBR to update the list of SIMs to be blocked on a weekly basis. The association claims that many taxpayers who have filed their returns for the tax year 2023 are still on the list, putting their SIM cards at risk of being deactivated.

The KTBA’s request follows the FBR’s earlier directive to block SIMs of over 500,000 individuals who had not filed their income tax returns. While this measure aimed to encourage tax compliance, the association argues that it is causing inconvenience to those who have fulfilled their tax obligations.

The KTBA is calling for a more dynamic system that reflects real-time tax compliance data, ensuring that only those who truly evade their tax responsibilities are affected by the SIM blocking measure.
