The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has announced that candidate registrations for the next cycle of the Chief Minister IT Internship Program (CMITIP) will open soon. The program offers eligible IT graduates a paid internship with participating technology companies in Punjab, providing professional and industry exposure. According to the latest announcement, selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of PKR 50,000, subject to performance requirements and verification of their degree by the Higher Education Commission. The official CMITIP portal will be used for candidate registration once applications open.

The upcoming cycle is designed for graduates with qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science and related fields. The official program portal currently lists eligible disciplines including Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Information Security, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Telecom and Networking, Animation, Business Information Technology, Computer and Information Systems, Graphic Designing, Information Systems and other closely related areas. Candidates must have completed at least 16 years of education, graduated within the last four years, hold a valid CNIC with a permanent Punjab address and Punjab domicile, and be unemployed. The program is open to all genders.

The internship duration for the current program structure is four months, with selected candidates receiving PKR 50,000 per month from the Government of Punjab. The stipend is linked to performance requirements, including attendance, supervisor evaluation and submission of monthly progress reports. The program portal states that candidates must maintain at least 70% attendance, while the supervisor’s performance evaluation and monthly progress report also contribute to stipend eligibility. The selection process includes profile creation, an aptitude test, Higher Education Commission verification, an interview and final selection, followed by an international certification stage.

The CM IT Internship Program is intended to connect fresh IT graduates with companies across Punjab and provide practical exposure to workplace projects and professional teams. Earlier cycles involved more than 2,400 internship positions and hundreds of participating IT companies, while PITB has continued registering companies for subsequent cycles. The latest company registration process closed in September, with participating organisations receiving PKR 12,500 per intern as monthly support while the intern’s PKR 50,000 stipend is funded by the Punjab government. The latest PITB announcement says candidate registration for the upcoming cycle will open soon, but it does not provide a confirmed opening date yet.
